Rise and Shine Grade 5 Math - Full Curriculum
In this 8 weeks enrichment Math Class (Common Core Standards ), incoming/ current Fifth Graders students will learn the basic math concepts in 5th Grade Math. This class is also an enrichment class for current fifth Graders or to those who would like to advance their math skill level.
Description
Learners will identify the place value of whole numbers through a hundred million. They will also round numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand, million, or ten million. Review Addition and Subtraction concepts. Learners will work on two or three addends or subtrahends with up to 4 digits in any given problem, though generally the computations are kept relatively simple.

Learners Recall multiplication facts and related division facts. Develop fluency in multiplying multi-digit numbers. Divide by a 1-digit number, with a remainder. Solve multi-digit multiplication and division problems.

Order of Operations
Learners will practice adding and subtracting fractions with both like and unlike denominators and multiplying and dividing fractions by whole numbers and continue through mixed number operations

Learners will practice  converting fractions to and from mixed numbers, simplifying fractions and recognizing equivalent fraction
Week 4
Converting Fractions
Learners will practice converting between different measurement units for length, mass and volume.Learners will also practice 2-D geometry such as classifying angles and triangles, classifying quadrilaterals, calculating perimeters and areas and working with circles.Â

Learners will practice factoring and finding prime factors of numbers and finding the greatest common factor and the the least common multiple of pairs of numbers. Learners will be introduced to the use of exponents, including the special case of powers of ten.Â

Learners will practice multiplying one digit decimals by whole numbers to general multiplication of multi-digit decimals in columns. Learners will understand decimal place value and finish with more computationally challenging decimal long division exercises.Â

I am a CA Licensed teacher and have been a teacher in brick and mortar for more than 3 decades. I have taught online for more than 5 years- ESL, MATH and SCIENCE. I have earned my Master’s Degree in Business Administration major in Finance, earned my Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education major in English, earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, AB Communication Management and Biology. I have taught Math/ Science/ ESL to learners in the USA, Canada, Australia, UK and Asia. I also taught ESL to both young learners and adults in China, Korea and Japan. I also know American Sign Language and have also taught beginners piano lessons as well. Math and Science are my passion.I follow the CA standard Curriculum/ Core Concept/ Kumon for Math and the Next Generation Science Standards for Science. I currently offer a full curriculum, semestral classes, multi-day and ongoing classes in Math for Kindergarten to Algebra and Science for First Grade to Third Grade. I also offer private one on one Math tutorials. I believe that "Effective teaching is important because teaching is based on helping children progress from one level to another in a more sociable interactive environment and to get the approach right to get students to be independent learners."
